Upgrade your Pacer Router with new PC, Software and Controller
It is now possible to upgrade your existing Pacer CNC Router with new latest generation controller, software and PC.
If you are still using one of the earlier machine controllers which fit inside a slot in the PC then your upgrade options for PC and software have been limited.
We have now made available some low cost upgrade packages which allow you to replace your old PC with a new Windows 7 based system.
The latest generation of machine controller can be separated from the PC and installed in its own specially designed housing which means not only can you take full advantage of a new PC's power, performance and networking under Windows 7 but also you are free to upgrade, repair or change the machine control PC at any time without affecting the now separate control system. The new controller requires just a standard USB connection to the PC for downloading programs and controlling the machine.
Other benefits of the new controller include smoother machine motion, improved performance and higher quality cutting in both 2D and especially 3D.
Two upgrade packages are available:
If you already have the latest (USB based) controller then you can upgrade the XMC-E software only to the latest Version 3 which contains a large number of new developments to improve productivity, ease of use and functionality. Software installation and training is included in this package.
If you do not have the latest controller and are still using the now unsupported ISA slot based control card inside the PC then we can supply a new USB based controller, custom housing, cabling, Windows 7 based PC and the new XMC-E Version 3 software. Also included is full installation and training.
Upgrade package 2 can be fully prepared in our factory and configured for your machine before the engineer comes on-site. This minimises downtime for your machine to avoid interruptions to productivity. Some of the new features available in XMC-E Version 3 are shown below.

Interactive Graphics - Computers with suitable graphics hardware will use Direct X for drawing
the jobs on screen. The mouse is used to give the user much more control of zooming and
panning of the job.
Manually Moving Contours - It is now possible to disable contours, paths can now also be
copied (duplicated) and paths can now be deleted from a job.
Display Cutting Order - A new feature has been added that displays the Cutting Order of paths
in a job. This will give an indication of the slew paths the machine will follow.
File Open Extra Features - XMC-E has the ability to append another job from disc onto the one
on screen, applying an X-Y move if desired. This allows several jobs to be cut as one, which will
optimise tool changes if the jobs require several tools.
Slowdown at End of Contour - When cutting small parts, there is a chance that the part will
move slightly just as the contour is completed. The machine can now be set to automatically
slow down at the end of each contour.
Cutting Time Estimation - The software follows the cutter paths, tallying both cut and slew
lengths, and the time taken. The dialog will then display the approximate job time, and the
number of tool changes, as well as the cut and slew lengths.
Lead In/Out Vectors - This feature allows the cutter to enter from the side of the material rather
than plunging into the surface.
Sequencing of Cut Contours - It is now possible to select the order in which contours will be
cut. This is done using new buttons on the toolbar which allow the cut order to be displayed and
modified.
