AXYZ Router Cuts the Mustard at Revolution Signs

An AXYZ 4010 router supplied by CNC routing specialist AXYZ International has enabled Braintree, Essex-based Revolution Signs to meet its considerable routing requirements in-house. This has eliminated the need for sub-contractors and the attendant time/cost issues and enabled a speed up in production and an ability to offer customers lower than normal prices that would not otherwise have been possible.

Established in 2002, Revolution Signs has expanded rapidly during its relatively brief history. The company is renowned for the high standard of its work and the reliability of its service, both of which have led to the creation of an impressive customer base. Integrated sign and graphics solutions have been provided for such well-known names as TESCO, Honda UK, Taylor Woodrow and Merton Borough Council. More recently, a re-branding project was carried out on behalf of the nationwide waste management and recycling company Biffa, 90 per cent of which was router-based. In-house design and printing facilities are also provided, the latter being founded on an AGFA Anapurna printer that is used in conjunction with the AXYZ router.

Director Ryan Fairweather commented: ‘The AXYZ 4010 router can be used for the production of cut-out letters and for multiple routing and engraving applications on a wide range of substrates. It also works in conjunction with the AGFA printer to provide a highly cost-effective print and cut facility. Investment in the AXYZ router has enabled us to offer a more bespoke service to our customers. From day one, we have been impressed by the router’s capabilities and in particular the contribution it has made to keeping production costs to a minimum.’

The AXYZ 4010 router is part of the 4000 series of machines that has assumed virtual benchmark status in the sign and graphics industry. It has an effective bed size of 3,048 (length) x 1,524 (width) and is particularly suited to the processing of eight x four sheets of material (typically, acrylic, aluminium, plastics and their derivatives, polycarbonate, foamed board, PVC, ACM and MDF). The router is available with a host of optional additional features. These include an Automatic Tool Change (ATC) facility that has recently been upgraded from seven up to 21 stations to accommodate multiple tooling requirements and the latest ICS (Intelligent Cutting System) that enables owners of AXYZ routers to provide unprecedented levels of accuracy when processing both digitally-printed media and thicker sign making materials.

Ryan Fairweather concluded: ‘Whilst we are not planning any system upgrades at present, we would inevitably use AXYZ as our first port of call. We have been very pleased with the after-sales service provided which is so essential to the smooth running of our operation and it is reassuring to know that there is always someone available in the event of any machining problem or when we might need technical advice.’
